I mentioned it to the cashier, and she just smiled. Guess freshness isn't a priority. For kicks, yesterday, I checked them at Giant and they are dated July 2018, and were the exact same price.
I went in late to pick up dinner. I went home with Crab cakes and hot crab soup. Both were very good. I resisted enjoying the wine bar or craft beer selection since it was late already. ;-]
Wonderful place. Excellent produce, excellent crab cakes, really good prepared food, good selection for a smaller store. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
So, just watch what you get here!
Have stopped in here a couple of times lately, as we pass it every day. It is a small store that has lots of gourmet types of foods, and usually prices to match.
All their stores are excellent in sales discount prices and availability and great customer service
However, the beer and wine selection is why most people go here, and I hear that is the only reason this location is still open. They have decent prices on the beer and wine too!
The idea of this business is better than its execution. Convenient location if you need to pick up something quick as far as groceries or a prepared meal. They maybe make the best pizza in the County. The salad bar is amazing; the butcher shop is top-notch; the hot bar is good; the fried chicken not quite as good as the Leonardtown store. The staff is always attentive and helpful. This place SHOULD be GREAT! Where else can you have a drink while you shop? However, the wine machine hasn't worked in a year. They have NEVER been able to make good espresso drinks. The pub burgers and gourmet hotdogs seem to have fallen by the wayside. It's a shame because I want to love this place, but for all their ambition, they just can't deliver everything they want to.
I stopped last week for a container of French's Crispy Fried Onions to top a green bean casserole, and finally found them. When I checked the best by date, it said April 2017, and this is Sept 2017.
